Last week we attended an educational seminar on wolf conservation at Brookfield Zoo. After, we got to go behind the scenes at the wolf exhibit to see the large pack of Mexican Grey Wolves. When conservation efforts began for this species back in the early 70′s, there were only 7 animals in the wild! Through conservation efforts, there are now more than 50 in the wild, and many more in zoos around the country.
We also visited the penguin house, which we have somehow missed in all our other trips to Brookfield Zoo.

Here are more pictures from our Alaskan cruise. In Ketchikan, we took a boat tour, where we saw many eagles, as well as totem poles and the old Guard Island lighthouse.

Since it was such a nice day, I walked around at lunch. I only took a few pictures:

Nick and I hiked around Lake Katherine. It was a very hot day, but we got some great pictures.

On the way home, we stopped at Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery. It is considered one of the most haunted places in the country. I’ve never seen any evidence of haunting… It just seems like a very sad place.

The first bunch of pictures in this set were taken on Friday during lunch, with my friend Nick. The second group was from Sunday. I took a walk around the neighborhood in the hopes of getting some great bird shots. I think the flowers came out better than the birds, though.
