We have a patio!

Here is the frameout of our new patio. It is sort of guitar shaped, and much larger than the old one. If it doesn’t rain, it will be filled in with stamped, colored concrete.

Due to various circumstances, I was unable to post pictures during the month of May. I did take some, though. They are linked below:

In early May, we went to Minneapolis for a friend’s wedding:

We took our nephew, TJ to Brookfield Zoo the next weekend. There was a special dinosaur exhibit:

At the end of the month, we went to my cousin David’s wedding:

On the way to the airport the next day, we stopped at Orange County Choppers, home of the TV show American Chopper. It was Sunday, so they weren’t building bikes, but we got to take a close look at some of the bikes they built on the show:

Yesterday, our big landscaping project finally began! This is just phase 1:

we finished!!!

Both panels… all we have left to do is place the acoustic material, and wrap…

All done! We finished with some walnut trim.

I couldn’t wait to get things set up. I connected just enough stuff to do some listening tests, and it sounds GREAT! It is way better than I had hoped. The sound is even and well balanced. There are no bassy sounding spots in the room (even against the back wall), and the stereo spread is phenomenal.

We got it finished just in time, too! Next weekend, I’m going to be recording with my friend Joel’s jazz band.

We started construction of my new recording studio control room this morning. Amelia’s cousin Dave is helping with the project. I am really happy with how it’s turning out!

I put the new insulation up by myself! It is mold and mildew resistant.

We are building the new wall in three pieces. Dave built the center section at home and brought it over. The fit is perfect!

We bent some conduit to move an outlet, and attached crossbeams to mount the new wall on.

Here is the finished center section! It looks great, and the room is already sounding better.

We’ll be finishing up next Sunday, so look for more pictures then!

These are pics of the new blinds in our living room. We like them much better than the old baby blue ones. This room is really shaping up. There is new furniture arriving in a couple of weeks, and then, I think we’re done for a bit.
