Things are starting to reach some level of normality after the move. We are all settled in, and mostly unpacked. We are even ready to start hanging pictures.

Everything is going well. The new furniture is perfect, The bar is all set up and fully functional. All the new wiring we ran works perfectly, and I even got the studio set back up.

That room is awesome. It is the perfect home office/audio/video/photo editing space for me. I can now work on my dual monitor setup while editing video on a 40inch screen projected on the wall in front of me. The best part is that the room sounds good. At this point, I’m not planning on adding too much sound treatment. I managed to fit all my guitars, keyboards, drums and everything else in there. Everything is within reach, but there is still plenty of space there. It would be cramped, but you could hold a band practice in there. I will take some pictures of it soon, and hopefully there will be plenty of creative output to host here on the site.

My friend Joel is coming by tonight, and we will see what we come up with.

The big day has arrived! We are being moved out of our apartment and into the house!!

The first 2 pics are of our beautiful new flooring. The third picture is of our new kitchen table. The next row has our cleaned up yard (complete with growing grass!) and some things found in the yard.

We painted yesterday. It took much longer than we were expecting. We’re not even finished yet. We will be able to finish most of it by tomorrow. My parents came out to help. Without them, we never would have gotten so much finished. It looks really nice. Most of the house is painted with a light color called “baked brie”. It doesn’t really look like cheese. 2 walls in the master bedroom are painted a very dark blue-green. It looks great! Amelia did a phenominal job with all the edging, and I hope her hand feels better soon. Her nephew Andy also helped. He did a great job.

In fact, the only person who didn’t do a great job was me! It turns out that house painting is not a skill I have. At least there was plenty else to do at the house. I put together our new grill, and got started with the elliptical that I bought Amelia for her birthday. We also got a trash compactor delivered and set up. There was plenty of cleaning to do too. I spent some time working on the lawn also. We seeded, fertilized, and watered. We also did 2 loads of laundry.

Tonight, we will hopefully finish the painting. Tomorrow, the new flooring gets installed. It will really make the house look different. We’re pretty excited. Thursday is duct/carpet cleaning… We are coming down the home stretch. I just hope we can find time to pack the apartment!

It has been a very busy weekend. I’ve not had the time to prep pictures for posting. I will try to get to it soon…

We have been hard at work on the new place. It is now fully wired for surround sound, satellite, and ethernet. I can patch satellite, cable or an off-air antenna into any room of the house. All cables are hidden away. We did a very professional job. Even better, all connections are tested and working. Special thanks to George, David, and Pete for assisting with this large project. It took all weekend to completely finish, but it is worth it.

 The electricians did a great job, and we now have a HUGE fuse box, that has plenty of room for upgrading.

Last night, we finished spackling, and sanding in preparation for painting. We still need to give the walls a quick cleaning, but we will be ready to paint this weekend. We already purchased the paint. We are painting most of the house in a neutral color, but the master bedroom will be a bit more interesting.

We also did some little things, like removing old window treatments, installing a remote control for the master bedroom ceiling fan (thanks dad!), putting out new solar lighting in the yard, and reseeding the lawn.

 Things are coming along nicely. There is so much more to do, and we still need to find time to pack! I think we’ll make it, though!

It is a great house, and we are excited to live there.

We closed on our house yesterday!! I hope I never have to go through that again. It was such an awful experience. I won’t go into any details, but I will say that some people are not nice.

Anyway, the house is great. It needs some sprucing up, but I’m actually looking forward to that part. Yesterday, we started cleaning. (left in broom swept condition, my ass!) Today, the electricians are coming to replace the fusebox, upgrade the electrical service, and add some new outlets. The locksmith will be there, and Permaseal is coming to give us an estimate on fixing up some cracks in the basement.

This evening, We are running wire all through the house… Satellite, Off-air antenna(for HD channels), and ethernet will be installed in almost every room. We’re doing it all the right way, with jack plates in the wall, and fished wire. I’m also going to run all the home theater speaker wire through the wall.

This weekend, we will be cleaning, and prepping walls for painting. I’m not sure what else we’ll be able to get done… Next weekend, we will paint. After that, wood flooring. Then many other things… We are really modernizing the place, though. It is exciting.

We’ll have plenty of space for people to come visit…

So, I scheduled a moving day for us. I think we are ready for the closing. I can’t wait for all this to start moving quickly. I want to be living in the new house already!
