On The Workbench
I started color blocking the Hordes figures. I am doing much more with my airbrush than I have previously. The brown wolf is just brown with black under shading. The white wolf was primed white, washed with Secret Weapon Soft Black wash, then airbrushed from the top with white. It did a decent job of shading and highlighting. I will have to touch up some sections, but overall I am happy. The armor sections are blocked in with a coppery brass color. They will be highlighted in shining gold, then washed with a mix of green and aqua washes to add a verdigris effect.
The large wolf is brown with black undershading. The bird man is interesting. He was primed grey, then I used Badger Minitaire ghost tints to go some coloring and shading. The wing tips are a color called “oil discharge”. The wings will be washed and drybrushed to complete the effect. The bird man’s skin will be a light brown. The areas I preshaded with the brown ghost tint should add some depth. The bird’s head will be mostly black.
These smaller wolf men are cool. I did all the cloaks in brown. I tried to leave primer in the recesses and add extra paint to the higher portions of the fabric to shade and highlight. It’s subtle, but I’m happy with it. After finishing the brown, I sprayed all the fur with a very dark grey. I didn’t use any sort of mask to protect the brown areas. I used airbrush control instead. Luckily, it worked!
These 2 Reaper Bones minis just got some color blocking. I’m still not sure how they will be finished.
